Intermediate / Senior Terrestrial / Wildlife Biologist

They are seeking an Intermediate Terrestrial / Wildlife Biologist to join their dynamic team, working on a diverse range of intriguing and challenging infrastructure and municipality-related projects. ​​​​​​Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)

Field: 30% - 50% (Lower Mainland only, no overnight travel).

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 DOE, including benefits, pension plan, overtime.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fieldwork, focusing on small mammals, birds, raptors, and amphibians.
  • Lead terrestrial/wildlife salvages.
  • Handle permitting and reporting related to terrestrial and wildlife.
  • Manage, train, and mentor junior team members.
  • Client management.
  • Play an instrumental role in project management, showcasing initiative and drive.
  • Reporting (daily, annual and permitting/EA reporting).
  • Manage budgets, logistics, equipment requirements. 
  • Design and run field programs.
Requirements:
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 7-10 years of experience.
  • P.Bio. designation or eligibility to become registered within the next couple of years.
  • Strong wildlife identification skills, with a focus on bird identification (visual and auditory).
  • Experience with invertebrates, amphibians, small mammals, and species at risk.
  • Knowledge of vegetation and wetlands is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Consulting experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the provincial regulatory system related to wildlife and species inventories.
  • GIS capabilities an asset. 
  • Ability to manage diverse projects and budgets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. 
  • Valid driver's license.
