Fish Biologist

Remote / WFH / Hybrid: Hybrid

Travel: 25% Fieldwork, mostly within driving distance.

Salary: $85k - $95k

Responsibilities: 
  • Developing and managing relationships within our core service sectors.
  • Designing studies and coordinating field surveys.
  • Preparing high quality technical reports.
  • Leading municipal, provincial and federal regulatory processes.
  • Preparing workplans for technical programs and writing high quality proposals.
  • Contributing to the growth and scientific development of the company.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in Fisheries Biology or other relevant sciences (graduate degree preferred).
  • Professional registration (R.P.Bio., P.Biol.).
  • 7 - 10+ years post-graduation experience in environmental consulting.
  • Project experience in fish population and aquatic ecology assessments, riparian assessments, offsetting and habitat design, stream channel processes, and stream flow and fish habitat interactions.
  • Knowledge in erosion and sediment control and construction compliance is an asset.
  • A strong understanding of relevant provincial and federal legislation, regulation and permitting processes.
  • Leadership, project management and client relationship skills.
  • Experience managing project tasks, budgets, and schedules to provide deliverables to clients.
  • Experience writing winning cost proposals and workplans. 
  • Excellent communication skills and technical report writing experience.
  • Experience in study design, field assessment, statistical analysis and interpretation.
