My client is an established Canadian mining company that is seeking both seasonal
Exploration Geologists and
Core Loggers to support a large-scale gold exploration and development project in the Yukon. These are rotational FIFO contract opportunities supporting active drilling, geological logging, sampling, and exploration programs within a fast-paced and highly collaborative exploration environment.
The project is advancing through exploration, permitting, engineering, and early development activities, offering successful candidates the opportunity to contribute directly to a significant Canadian gold project during a major growth phase.
This opportunity will appeal to candidates ranging from recent geology graduates through to experienced field geologists seeking hands-on rotational exploration work in remote northern environments.
Remote / WFH / Hybrid: Fly In / Fly Out 2 week rotation
Wage: Exploration Geologists $52.00-$57.00 per hour; Core Loggers $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Exploration Geologist:
The Exploration Geologist position is a more technical and field-focused role responsible for geological interpretation, drill support, field supervision, geological logging, drill targeting support, data quality, and assisting with broader exploration decision-making. This role is best suited for candidates with previous mineral exploration experience who are comfortable working independently within active drilling programs and remote field environments.
Core Logger:
The Core Logger position focuses primarily on detailed drill core and chip logging, geological data collection, sample handling, database accuracy, and supporting efficient day-to-day drill program execution. This role is ideal for junior geologists, recent graduates, geology students, or early-career exploration professionals looking to gain practical experience within a structured exploration environment.
Responsibilities:
Depending on the position and level of experience, responsibilities may include:
- Geological logging of drill core and chip samples
- Recording lithology, mineralization, structure, and alteration
- Assisting with geological interpretation and exploration targeting
- Supporting drilling operations and drill pad activities
- Collar staking, rig line-ups, and downhole surveys
- Core handling, sampling, labelling, and sample tracking
- Maintaining accurate geological records and databases
- Supporting daily, weekly, and exploration summary reporting
- Participating in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments
- Assisting with drill site inspections and contractor coordination
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary exploration team
- Maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline, or current enrollment in a geology-related program
- Previous mineral exploration experience considered an asset
- Experience with drill core logging and remote field programs preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work safely and effectively in remote camp environments
- Comfortable working rotational schedules in northern conditions
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in Canada
- Registration or eligibility for G.I.T. status considered an asset
